WITH an objective to caution students about the dangers of drug abuse, the MES Indian School, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, organised an awareness programme on the topic, ‘Preventive Education against Drug Abuse’ for the students of grade 8.

A total of 500 students from grade 8 attended the programme held at the Conference Hall of the school recently.

Dr Nader Mohammed Abbara, awareness lecturer at MoI, Drug Enforcement Directorate, was the resource person at the event.

The awareness lecture focused on informing the students about the various types of drugs and their classifications, the effects of these drugs on the body, addiction and abuse, consequences of overuse of drugs and how to prevent drug use.

It also covered treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts and explained how drugs destroys a student’s social and school life.

The awareness session was followed by Q&A session to clear doubts and apprehensions of students.
