NORMAN — A man shot twice inside a Penn Square Mall shoe store last month was jailed Wednesday for violating a court order.

Gerron Cobb was directed by Cleveland County District Judge Thad Balkman to complete a 90-day inpatient drug treatment program as a condition of his release from jail in October. Cobb, 22, was discharged from a recovery center in Tecumseh after 42 days for "behavioral issues."

"I am not comfortable having you back in the community," Balkman told the defendant, who has criminal cases pending in Cleveland and Oklahoma counties, mainly for drug offenses.

The judge said Cobb will remain in custody until space in another inpatient facility becomes available.

Cobb was shot twice during an altercation at Foot Locker on Dec. 19. The gunfire caused panic among holiday shoppers, who took cover in stores, closets and restrooms. The mall was locked down for several hours following the shooting.

Elizha Cardale Sanders, 24, is accused of shooting Cobb and is facing a felony charge of assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Police said Sanders and Cobb had "prior issues" and began exchanging words after running into each other at Foot Locker.

The two then began fighting, police told a judge. After the fight was over, Sanders reached into his pants, got a gun and shot Cobb, police wrote in an affidavit requesting his arrest."After the victim was shot, he fell and began crawling out of the store. Sanders pursued the victim continuing to shoot at him. The victim was struck at least two times," according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

Sanders was released from jail last week after his family posted bond. Sanders' attorney told The Oklahoman his client was shopping for his sister at the mall when he was jumped by "four thugs." The attorney, David Slade, said Sanders acted in self-defense.
